Originally designed in the late 1960's as a playground surface for playgrounds in urban schools in the U.S., Astro Turf has stood the test of time. It is world renown was assured when the surface was chosen for the new "super dome" Sports in Houston, which became known as the Astrodome.
Yet some 50 years later, but has improved greatly, Astro Turf is now used in a wide range of applications, and has been adapted to accommodate a more varied range sporting activities originally planned.
